Why am I running for Mayor?
I am running for Mayor because I care deeply about this community and want to give back to the place that has given so much to me and my family. I want to see Nappanee continue to be the best place to work, live and play.
I would like to focus on improving the quality of life for all residents of Nappanee. Listening to the residents and working in cooperation with the various departments, boards and commissions, I plan to assess our current infrastructure and services and look for innovative ways to enhance and improve our community. Economically, I would like to work with existing businesses and the Chamber of Commerce to create an environment that ensures business retention and look for opportunities for economic diversity and growth. I plan to work with the schools, churches and social service agencies to promote and strengthen families and to encourage our next generation. I will draw on Nappanee's history and assess our present situation as we work together to shape Nappanee's future.
As an architect, I have been trained to solve problems. The process of problem solving involves identifying and assessing issues and challenges and developing solutions with the best possible outcome. Many of the same skills I use in my profession today are the skills I intend to use if elected Mayor.
